It is a hot day in dry season, but leaders across Nuba have travelled to the offices of the Diocese of Kadugli nonetheless. They've come to learn from Bishop Andudu Elnail about how to work toward peace.
Bishop Andudu has drawn from his education at Eastern Mennonite University to create a week-long workshop to help community leaders learn how to become effective peacemakers. Workshop participants apply the ways and wisdom of Jesus to seek reconciliation and address root causes of conflict after decades of civil war.
In 2022, Pax Dei for Nuba provided $20,000 to support this effort and will continue this work into 2023 so that Bishop Andudu can carry these workshops into conflict-prone areas across the region.
In the workshop pictured above, leaders attended from Christian churches, Muslim mosques, tribal authorities, and local government. After spending a day learning the theories behind conflict resolution, they spent the second day identifying real conflicts in the community and seeking resolution.
