Highlighting the vital work of Grace Secondary School
| Dear friends of Sudan Church Partners, Our mission as an organization is to equip the Sudanese church in the formation of Christ-centered leaders. Education of its youth is at the heart of that mission and is one of the ways we are working towards this goal. The future leaders of the church are being educated right now in schools like Grace Secondary School. The reality is that most Nuba families do not have access to quality education. Most have been forced to flee to other countries like Uganda or Kenya as refugees to seek out better opportunities for their children. But Grace Secondary School is working to change that. At Grace, there are currently: – 577 students enrolled in Senior 1-4 (equivalent to our four years of American High School), almost evenly split between girls and boys. – Students from many different tribal groups around the region with both Christians and non-Christians are included. – 15 Teachers, including 6 from Uganda brought to mentor and support the Sudanese teachers. – 14 support staff, including 6 cooks, 6 security guards, 1 school nurse, and 1 computer lab technician. The truth is Sudan needs many more schools than this. But the vital work at Grace Secondary School is making an incredible contribution to bolstering the future of these students, the church, and the wider community of the Nuba Mountains, which is why we are thrilled to be a part of this work! Please check out our new ministry highlight video which will give you a look into the story and missional impact at Grace: |
