Learning to Sew
July 27, 2022From September, 2020 through January, 2021, Bishop Andudu traveled to Sudan and the surrounding regions. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was able to visit Nuba refugees in Juba, South Sudan, in Kampala, Uganda, and in Sudan's Nuba Mountains. This newsletter highlights some of his activities while there, along with some updates on the work that Pax Dei for Nuba helps support in the region.
Thank you for your generous support for the people of the Nuba Mountains. Your contributions help enable this work!

In addition, Andudu visited the the sites of the Women's Sewing Guild project, which has being funded through generous donations to Pax Dei for Nuba. At this point, 10 women in Juba and in the Yida refugee camp have been trained to use foot-powered sewing machines for creating reusable menstrual pads for school girls and to generate income through sewing projects in Juba, Yida, and the Nuba Mountains. Some of the first trainees will take sewing machines into the remote Nuba Mountains to train and equip more women for this great work. This is all being coordinated through the Kadugli Diocese Mother's Union - a group of women leaders who understand the challenges on the ground.

Evangelism - Spreading Jesus' Peaceable Kingdom in a War-torn Country
The church in Sudan is experiencing a level of growth very much like the descriptions of the early chapters of the book of Acts. While in the Nuba Mountains, Andudu was able to confirm over 1000 new converts to the faith, many of whom came from animist or Muslim backgrounds. They have been touched by the beauty of a God who has pitched His tent among them, and who knows what it means to suffer at the hands of self-serving and corrupt leaders. The top picture below shows new converts waiting to be confirmed and blessed. The lower picture shows a crowd of 500 people watching the Jesus Film.
